Art residency Week Four p2
Yes, it is hectic.. I’ve spent all day yesterday 9-5pm in a car with Oskar. Oskar is a Uniting Care volunteer at the Community Transport Services. He has worked as a volunteer driver for 6 years and he loves driving a car. Every Wednesday he starts at around 8am depending on a number of bookings and drives clients to where they need to go: hospital, doctor’s appointments, retiring homes, work, social meetings, sports venues. Yesterday we had 7 pick ups. We had a female passenger who just had the dialysis, and closer to her home I’ve undone my seat-belt whilst the car was still moving. Something started beeping and we were not sure whether it was a problem with the patient’s oxygen delivery or something else. I then realised that it might have been the seat-belt so quickly put it back on and the beeping fortunately stopped. It was a scary moment.. Here are a couple of shots from yesterday to show you yesterday story..

Under the Floorboards
UnitingCare Ballarat begins a unique artistic project, Under the Floorboards, with the first of 12 artist residences commencing on Monday 30th July. Under the Floorboards is a collaborative project in which renowned Western District artists will create works based on their experiences at one of the diverse programs provided by UnitingCare Ballarat. The project will culminate in a gala event with an art auction and performance of the works in October 2013 and the proceeds will provide funding for the services.
The City of Ballarat Arts & Cultural Development is a project partner with UnitingCare Ballarat, extending opportunities for quality arts experiences to all members of the community and providing significant professional development opportunities to local & regional artists.
ABC Ballarat is the project media partner.

Hello, Aldona,
Loved to read your blog. My wife thought the picture of Ron and me was the best! Just two little things: We normally start at 8am, not 7 and i spell my name with a K, it being the German version of Oskar.
Keep up the good work,
Oskar

All noted. Thank you Oskar and I’m glad you like the photo. There are many more, and I shall let you know the sneak peek as soon as I finish the project 😉
