“The Art of Activism” exhibition tells the story of efforts to protect East Gippsland’s ancient forests from logging. On a scorching 38°C day, we embarked on an epic one-day road trip to the remote Far East corner of Victoria. Joined by ABC Gippsland journalist Mim Cook, we squeezed into her rusty old Saab—no aircon, of course—and made our way to Combienbar. There, an equally weathered Dave’s ’80s Land Cruiser took us deeper into the wilderness, up to Granite Mountain, where we visited the blockade in the State Forest—an area marked for logging.”
