My photograph ‘Unicorns are real’ explores the ephemeral surreal world of mythical creatures, the unicorn myth, my dreams and their connection to the world. It raises questions of the feminine and the notion of the mask, to be alien and strange and barefoot in the surf. My model in this photograph is Kirsty Hawkes, Warrnambool-based artist. It was at Kirsty’s house where I spotted the unicorn head.
