Join me at Montsalvat for a special community gathering celebrating World Cyanotype Day, held annually on the last Saturday of September.
Following the cyanotype demonstration, participants will be invited to gather in the gardens of Montsalvat with their finished cyanotype prints for a large group photograph. This image will be submitted to the international World Cyanotype Day community, connecting our local gathering with cyanotype artists and photographers around the world.
Held in the gardens near my artist studio at Montsalvat, this event is an opportunity to be part of a global celebration of the historic cyanotype process, first developed in 1842. Across the world, artists, photographers and enthusiasts will be creating and sharing their distinctive Prussian-blue prints as part of a worldwide community event.
About World Cyanotype Day
World Cyanotype Day is celebrated annually on the last Saturday of September (26 September 2026). The event brings together a global community of artists and photographers to celebrate one of photography’s earliest and most accessible photographic printing processes.
Participants around the world are encouraged to:
- Create cyanotype prints
- Contribute work to free online exhibitions hosted by Alternative Photography
- Share images and connect with fellow practitioners through the official World Cyanotype Day community
- Celebrate the rich history and contemporary possibilities of this unique photographic medium
Whether you are new to cyanotype or an experienced practitioner, this is a chance to make work, meet others, and become part of an international creative community.
