Description
Portrait of my grandmother, Michalina, hand-processed as a cyanotype onto a found vintage canvas depicting a tree landscape. Her photograph has been with me since childhood, along with stories of the war, forced labour and the strength it took to survive. By bringing her image together with this rust coloured landscape, I wanted to create a connection across time – between her life, my own memories and the Poland I still carry with me. The work reflects on ancestry, inherited memory and what remains through photographs, objects and family stories.
