Workshop topics

• Introduction to Your Local Council
  Get to know the various branches of your local council and the support available for you to run your own community event!
• Funding Info Session
  Meet representatives from various funding bodies that will provide some useful tips on successful grant writing and project planning.
• Connecting with Country
  The experience of dispossession is universal. Learn about Australia’s Indigenous history and the effect of European colonization on the Indigenous community. Discussions will also focus on human rights, the role of culture in identity and ways forward to reconciliation.
• Manage Culture and Community
  Be inspired by 3 accomplished community leaders from refugee and emerging communities. Hear how they have successfully managed community groups and cultural development. Also a great opportunity to share and discuss contemporary issues facing multicultural communities in your local area.
• Project Planning and Design
  Learn about some vital aspects of project management including planning, developing timelines and realistic budgets for community projects.
